The northern border of Leitrim is defined largely by water - the exquisitely beautiful Lough MacNean and Lough Melvin, two lakes shared with Leitrim's neighbour, Co.Fermanagh. Another great waterway, The Erne, lies largely in Co. Fermanagh and is now joined with the Shannon via the Shannon-Erne Waterway, which lies largely in Co. Leitrim. Leitrim and Fermanagh are natural hinterlands to these great waterways, and share many of the attractions which bring visitors and sportsmen to this lovely part of Ireland. Ballinamore Tourism
