Good morning, our holiday home in Ireland is an ideal base for families looking for a peaceful holiday in pleasant surroundings, or alternatively, a small group who are looking for a fishing or golfing holiday.

The house is located in the picturesque village of Dromod in Co.Leitrim, on the main N4 Dublin/Sligo road. It is easily accessible from Dublin Airport and all Ferry Ports, which are approximately 80 miles away.

Dromod is ideally situated for exploring the Midlands, the West and North West of Ireland. The River Shannon is a five-minute walk away, which is reputed to be one of the finest fishing locations in Ireland. Other attractions in the area include boat hire, which range from small rowing boats to cruisers. Also water sking is a very popular pusuit, on this particular strech of the river, and all equipment can be hired from the local modern marina. Other features include a riding stable and four golf courses, which are only a 10-minute drive away.

There are two large towns either side of the village, which are 15 minutes in either direction, namely Carrick-On-Shannon to the West and Longford to the East. Both these towns offer very good shopping facilities and other features including cinemas, swimming pools and a various choice of restaurants and pubs.

The Forest Park large nature reserve, together with Cowboy City and a narrow gauge fully operational railway line, are all local to the village of Dromod. For those wishing to venture a little further, the seaside resort of Bundoran is an hours drive away. You can also make use of the golf links course nearby this location at the town of Sligo.

For those wishing to experience the famous Irish hospitality along with the Guiness, there are three pubs within three minutes walking distance. Cox's Steak House serves food from 10.00 am until 22.00hrs every day and all bars offer a warm and friendly service, especially to families. Less than one mile away there is a new four star hotel called The Shannon Key West, that offers entertainment and full restaurant services, at very reasonable prices to non-residents.
